Overview

We are inviting expressions of interest from Nurse Practitioners who may be interested in future opportunities to deliver primary health services within Saskatchewan correctional and youth custody environments.
This is a proactive posting intended to identify qualified clinicians for potential upcoming service needs.


Potential Practice Setting
 Nurse Practitioners may provide services within adult and youth facilities located in:

  • Saskatoon
  • Regina
  • Prince Albert
  • North Battleford

Practice assignments may be single-site or multi-site, depending on mutual fit and availability.


Clinical Scope (May Include)

  • Primary care assessments and follow-up
  • Chronic disease management
  • Medication prescribing within NP scope
  • Health screenings and physical assessments
  • Communicable disease testing and treatment
  • Mental health and substance use related care
  • Telephone-based on-call clinical support
  • Collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and correctional teams

Indicative Time Commitment

  • Scheduled onsite clinic hours ranging from a few hours per month to weekly sessions
  • Participation in an on-call rotation, as applicable
  • Predictable scheduling to support continuity of care

Candidate Profile

  • Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan
  • Strong interest in correctional health, community health, or complex patient populations
  • Ability to work independently within scope while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Comfortable practicing in secure environments

Professional Considerations

  • EMR-based documentation
  • Structured orientation provided
  • Security clearance required prior to commencement

Summary:

We are seeking expressions of interest from Physicians interested in providing primary health services in Saskatchewan correctional and youth custody settings. These opportunities are expected to be part-time, clinic-based roles with additional on-call responsibilities, subject to final service arrangements.
This posting is exploratory and intended to identify qualified clinicians who may be interested in future correctional health work.


Potential Practice Setting
 Physicians may provide onsite medical services within adult and youth correctional facilities located in:

  • Saskatoon
  • Regina
  • Prince Albert
  • North Battleford

Assignments may involve one or multiple sites depending on clinician availability and interest.
Clinical Scope (May Include)

  • Assessment and treatment of common acute illnesses and injuries
  • Ongoing management of chronic medical conditions
  • Medication prescribing and renewals
  • Intake health assessments and physical examinations
  • Communicable and infectious disease screening and management
  • Coordination of referrals to external specialists when required
  • Gender-responsive and trauma-informed care
  • Telephone on-call support outside of scheduled clinic hours
  • Collaboration with onsite nursing and correctional health teams

Indicative Time Commitment

  • Scheduled clinic hours ranging from a few hours per week to multiple sessions weekly, depending on site
  • On-call availability with defined response expectations
  • Consistent scheduling to support continuity of care

Candidate Profile

  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan
  • Experience or interest in correctional health, addictions, mental health, or underserved populations considered an asset
  • Comfortable working in secure environments
  • Strong clinical judgment and collaborative communication style

Professional Considerations

  • Services are primarily in-person
  • EMR access provided
  • Orientation and security training provided prior to site access
